offices linked to defence company targeted in attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Police are investigating after attacks on two office buildings in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/local-news\/edinburgh-news\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edinburgh<\/a> in which vandals smashed computer equipment and spray-painted walls.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The incidents, at offices belonging to aerospace firm Leonardo UK and security company Securitas, happened in the early hours of Sunday.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A video posted on X showed masked people in black clothing using hammers to smash windows and computer equipment, and emptying files and cupboards.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The footage also shows them spray-painting walls with slogans including \u201cDrop Leonardo now\u201d.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  According to the post, the \u201cautonomous group\u201d carried out the attack on Leonardo because it manufactures equipment used in the Israeli military operation in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/gaza\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gaza<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A Leonardo UK spokesman told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/news\/25076508.bbc-scotland-news-interviews-updates-broadcaster\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC Scotland<\/a>: \u201cLeonardo UK is subject to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/uk-government\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK Government<\/a> export controls and does not supply equipment direct to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/israel\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Israel<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cOur main customer is the UK armed forces and we are proud to manufacture technology that supports our service personnel and helps to keep them safe.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The BBC also reported a spokesperson for Securitas UK as saying: \u201cOn Sunday, Securitas UK responded to an incident of vandalism at our regional office in Edinburgh.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWhilst we cannot share further details due to the ongoing investigation, the safety of our people, as well as the protection of our property and assets, remains our highest priority.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A Police Scotland spokesperson said: \u201cAn investigation is under way following two reports of vandalism in Edinburgh on Sunday October 5, 2025.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cOfficers were contacted around 1.50am to a report of red paint being sprayed on to a building in Crewe Road North.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cA second incident of windows being smashed at a property in Cliftonhall Industrial Estate was received around 3am on Sunday morning.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cInquiries are ongoing to identify those
