Samsung has started to roll out the final major update for the Galaxy S22 series, with its Android 16-based One UI 8 now rolling out in some regions.<\/p>\n

As spotted by Tarun Vats<\/a>, an avid Samsung chronicler, Samsung has started rolling out One UI 8 to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra in Europe. This Android 16 update, which weighs in at over 3GB, is the last major update that the Galaxy S22 series will receive.<\/p>\n

Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series in 2022 as its first Galaxy S flagship series to include an S Pen-laden device, and also introduced the core design language that Samsung has still been using years later in its Galaxy S25 series and other releases. <\/p>\n

But, like most Android devices released before Google\u2019s Pixel 8 series in 2023, the Galaxy S22 series lacks the current standard of software support.<\/p>\n

Samsung is committed to four major Android updates for the Galaxy S22, which ends with One UI 8\u2019s rollout. The company is still set to support security updates for at least another year, and there\u2019s also a good chance the device gets One UI 8.5<\/a> based on its release window, since Samsung is expected to launch that update in January. <\/p>\n

So far, Android 16 for the Galaxy S22 series is only seeing a limited rollout in Europe, but it should expand to other regions in the next week or two.<\/p>\n
