The exceptional scenario, which the country had not experienced in 45 years, is looking increasingly likely to recur. The crisis triggered by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/en\/politics\/article\/2025\/10\/06\/french-pm-lecornu-s-full-speech-after-resigning_6746140_5.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prime Minister S\u00e9bastien Lecornu&#8217;s resignation on October 6<\/a>, just a week before the expected presentation of the draft 2026 budget bill, jeopardizes the adoption of a budget within the constitutionally set timeframe. There is now a high risk that the public deficit will remain uncontrolled and that the financial markets will penalize France.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph  \">&#8220;The government was already cutting it close to submit a budget to the Assembl\u00e9e Nationale on time,&#8221; said Eric Coquerel, a left-wing chair of the Assembl\u00e9e Nationale&#8217;s Finance Committee.  &#8220;With S\u00e9bastien Lecornu&#8217;s resignation, I don&#8217;t see how we can manage it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph  \">Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Husson, the conservative budget rapporteur in the S\u00e9nat, shared the sentiment. &#8220;Adopting the budget before December 31 seems highly unlikely, unless there is a last-minute turnaround, which I doubt,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"reading-mode-only \"><strong>You have 82.09% of this article left to read.
