Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was left impressed by new goalkeeper Senne Lammens<\/a> following his performance in the 2-0 win over Sunderland.<\/p>\n The Belgian shot stopper was given his United<\/a> debut by Ruben Amorim<\/a> for the clash with the Black Cats, keeping a clean sheet and commanding his area well.<\/p>\n “That must instil so much confidence in the back line, and then it spreads through the team,” Ferdinand said on his podcast, Rio Presents<\/a>, looking back at the performance.<\/p>\n “You\u2019ve got to bear in mind that whether you support the goalkeepers that were there before or not, most games we were coming out of, and there was a question mark or something, an incident that happened in the game and was talked about on our show or loads of other different shows, right?<\/p>\n “If they were talking about it on our show, imagine what they\u2019re thinking inside the dressing room when they\u2019re thinking about their goalkeeper.<\/p>\n “So for a goalkeeper to come out, you know the feeling when a keeper, when a ball\u2019s coming in the box and they\u2019re a big team, aggressive, and the keeper comes out and claims it, that feeling of looking down at him on the floor when he\u2019s getting back up and you go, you know what, that\u2019s my keeper, man.<\/p>\n “That\u2019s my goalkeeper, do you know what I mean? I don\u2019t think they\u2019ve been able to say that for a while because there\u2019s been so many different mistakes and whatnot that\u2019s gone on in questionable decision-making.<\/p>\n “But he just looked very, very, very secure.
