Willie Peters\u2019 transformational work at Hull KR has been likened to Michael Maguire\u2019s impactful stint in Super League by legendary Great Britain half-back Leon Pryce.<\/p>\n
Maguire made a huge impression at Wigan Warriors – and across the competition – guiding the club to Super League glory in 2010 and ending a 12-year title drought. The 51-year-old also led Wigan to a Challenge Cup win in 2011 before returning to Australia, where he famously coached South Sydney Rabbitohs to the NRL Premiership in 2014. Most recently, he steered the Brisbane Broncos to their first NRL title in 19 years with a thrilling Grand Final triumph over Melbourne Storm.<\/p>\n
Peters, meanwhile, is eyeing a historic treble with the Robins in 2025. With both the League Leaders’ Shield and the Challenge Cup already secured, only Wigan stand in their way of sweeping all available trophies, with the Grand Final at Old Trafford looming on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Four-time Grand Final winner Pryce has labelled Peters\u2019 time at the Robins as \u201cunbelievable\u201d in the build-up to the Grand Final on Saturday at Old Trafford, where the Robins could claim their first ever Super League title.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he\u2019s under-talked,\u201d Pryce said of Peters on the latest episode of All Out Rugby League’s Back Ten Podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat a job he\u2019s done – he\u2019s absolutely transformed that club and that team into a dominant Super League club, which is not easy to break the stranglehold of Saints, Wigan, Warrington and Leeds.<\/p>\n \u201cTo merge now as probably the top two teams in Super League over a two or three year period has taken some doing, because that club has not been anywhere near the top for a very long time.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s come over, made changes, made adjustments and made signings. It\u2019s similar to what Maguire did at Wigan when he first came over.<\/p>\n \u201cHull KR<\/a> are disciplined, and they\u2019ve got a game plan that suits them.
