ScotRail is warning <\/a>of the potential for disruption<\/a> for travellers using services south and east of Inverness today (Wednesday).<\/p>\n

Six morning and afternoon commuter services between Inverness and Elgin have already been cancelled.<\/p>\n

The rail operator reported a signalling fault yesterday with a number of services delayed or unable to run.<\/p>\n

With the issue still unresolved, the rail firm says services between Inverness and Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen are all subject to delays or cancellation<\/a> despite currently being able to run.<\/p>\n

A ScotRail spokeswoman said: \u201cOur services are affected by ongoing issues with the signalling system in the Inverness area.<\/p>\n

\u201cServices between Glasgow Queen St – Inverness, Edinburgh – Inverness and Aberdeen – Inverness are currently running as scheduled, but may be subject to delays and cancellations.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to a power supply issue at Network Rail\u2019s signalling centre<\/a>, and to allow for repair works to be carried out, the following ScotRail services will be cancelled today until further notice: Elgin – Inverness and Inverurie – Aberdeen.\u201d<\/p>\n

As many services are currently running as normal, travellers are advised to check their journeys online before travelling.<\/p>\n

The cancelled Inverness -Elgin services are:<\/p>\n

A spokesman for Network Rail Scotland said: \u201cWe\u2019re experiencing issues with the power supply at our signalling centre, which is affecting some services between: Inverness \u2013 Elgin and Aberdeen \u2013 Inverurie<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re working hard to resolve the issue, but we expect some services will still be disrupted or cancelled tomorrow. Please check with your train operator before you travel.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.\u201d<\/p>\n
