Customs such as this have relaxed over the years, with even the royal family\u2019s website stating, \u201cThere are no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>However, the site also states, \u201c[M]any people wish to observe the traditional forms,\u201d adding, \u201cFor men this is a neck bow (from the head only) whilst women do a small curtsy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Members of the royal family and members of the royal household, however, almost always (if not always) curtsy to the sovereign and their consort, making Elliot\u2019s position even more remarkable given that she is one of Queen Camilla\u2019s \u201ccompanions\u201d (the contemporary equivalent of a \u201clady-in-waiting\u201d).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Members of the royal family and members of the royal household, however, almost always (if not always) curtsy to the sovereign and their consort, making Elliot\u2019s position even more remarkable given that she is one of Queen Camilla\u2019s \u201ccompanions\u201d (the contemporary equivalent of a \u201clady-in-waiting\u201d).\u00a0 Chris Jackson<\/p>\n<p>Curtsying aside, Elliot praised her sister when speaking with Hardman.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously for [King Charles], it was always going to be,\u201d she told Hardman of Charles becoming monarch.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As for her sister\u2019s unexpected ascendancy into public life, Elliot said, \u201cI think she\u2019s transitioned beautifully, actually. I mean, I sometimes look at her, and I can\u2019t really believe it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curtsying aside, Elliot (L) praised her sister Queen Camilla (C) when speaking with Hardman.\u00a0 Chris Jackson<\/p>\n<p>The Queen\u2019s younger sister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/royals\/32533279\/queen-camilla-sister-annabel-elliot-relationship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was reportedly her \u201crock\u201d during a trying 2024<\/a>. The literacy advocate mourned the death of her beloved dog, saw her husband and daughter-in-law battle cancer and suffered health problems of her own, including a bout of pneumonia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Elliot\u2019s love for her sister was on public display in the \u201cBBC documentary Charles III: The Coronation Year,\u201d in which she got emotional watching footage of Camilla leaving for Westminster Abbey <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/05\/05\/queen-camillas-family-takes-center-stage-at-coronation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to be crowned Queen.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I thought back to being 2 years old and watching [Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s] coronation on a tiny black and white television, and there goes this golden coach with my sister in it,\u201d Elliot said. \u201cI can\u2019t explain the feeling, because it\u2019s so surreal. This cannot be happening. It was quite a moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elliot\u2019s admiration for her sister was echoed by Camilla\u2019s sister-in-law, Princess Anne (aka The Princess Royal).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Queen\u2019s younger sister was reportedly her \u201crock\u201d during a trying 2024.
