Heat is always an issue in our region because the summers are hot. Our media guys are in those conversations daily with European media, with other world media, in terms of what’s best.”

Montagliani explained: “It’s FIFA’s tournament, FIFA’s jurisdiction, FIFA makes those decisions,” said Montagliani at The Summit, part of Leaders Week London.

Montagliani added: “Whatever decision they make. We need to work out what’s feasible.”

In terms of drinks partnerships for the event, Diageo has recently signed up as official spirits supporter for FIFA World Cup 2026. The drinks giant will activate a portfolio of brands including Casamigos, Don Julio and Johnnie Walker across all 16 American host cities during the tournament and pubs across England are gearing up for a prosperous 2026.

Despite these green shoots, pub businesses have faced a hard time of late and continue to tackle challenges.
