This rare expression adds unexpected sweetness and spice to Lagavulin\u2019s signature smokiness, creating a multi-layered whisky experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">On the nose, it opens with salted toffee and ripe berries, underpinned by the brand\u2019s hallmark maritime and medicinal notes. Lagavulin\u2019s special edition 15 Year Old is bottled at a robust 55.7 per cent ABV and priced at \u00a3240.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Only 1,596 bottles of this rich, smoky single malt will be available, sold through the distillery and online via malts.com.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The palate is creamy and rich, with a balanced profile of sweet, salty, spicy and smoky flavours. A long, dry finish follows, laced with fragrant Lagavulin smoke and a surprising kick of Sichuan pepper.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cInnovation is at the heart of what we do at Lagavulin and, this year, we wanted to offer something truly special,\u201d said Lagavulin Distillery Manager Jordan Paisley.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/2_Lagavulins-special-edition-15-Year-Old.jpg\" alt=\"A bottle of Lagavulin\u2019s special edition 15 Year Old whisky beside a glass outside with a setting sun in the distance\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Lagavulin\u2019s 15 Year Old festival release(Image: Lagavulin)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWhile researching our archives, we discovered a reference to Moscatel de M\u00e1laga hogshead casks, which inspired this release. The result is a beautifully complex whisky that adds layers to our signature smoke. We\u2019re excited to share it with our fans at F\u00e8is \u00ccle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Meanwhile, Caol Ila is pushing boundaries with its special edition for F\u00e8is \u00ccle, The Isay Festival, which runs from Friday, May 23, to Saturday, May 31.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Caol Ile is bringing out a bold 8 Year Old release that explores new flavour territory. This special bottling has been matured in refill casks and a mix of Pedro Xim\u00e9nez and Oloroso-seasoned casks, then finished in Colombian Oak, a first for the distillery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The result is a dram that surprises with its smooth, waxy texture and richly sweet character, amplified by Caol Ila\u2019s signature smoky depth. Notes of spice and peppery heat further enhance its complexity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Caol Ila\u2019s 8 Year Old festival expression comes in at 55.8 per cent ABV, retailing for \u00a3110. A total of 1,476 bottles will be released, also available both at the distillery and on malts.com.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/2_Caol-Ilas-bold-8-Year-Old.jpg\" alt=\"A bottle of Caol Ila 8 Year Old whisky on top of a barrel\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Caol Ila\u2019s 8 Year Old festival release(Image: Caol Ila)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Describing the dram, whisky expert Charles MacLean said: \u201cEven at reduced strength, the taste is intense!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Martin Gaughan, Caol Ila\u2019s newly appointed Distillery Manager, said he\u2019s especially excited to share the distillery\u2019s latest creation, and to mark a personal milestone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThis release is all about exploration, both for us who enjoy Caol Ila and all the new visitors to Islay during F\u00e8is \u00ccle,\u201d he said. \u201cThe finish in Colombian Oak casks has brought a fascinating twist, enhancing Caol Ila\u2019s natural richness with unexpected sweet and spicy layers. I can\u2019t wait for all of our fans to experience it first-hand at my first F\u00e8is \u00ccle as Caol Ila\u2019s Distillery Manager.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Both the Lagavulin and Caol Ila F\u00e8is \u00ccle 2025 editions will be available to buy on their respective open days, offered on a first come first served basis. Lagavulin Day will take place on Saturday, May 24, followed by Caol Ila Day on Monday, May 26.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The celebrations don\u2019t stop at whisky releases.
