the Israeli army, days after the detention of activists on board vessels bound for the war-torn territory caused <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/oct\/02\/israels-gaza-flotilla-interception-triggers-protests-diplomatic-expulsions-and-calls-for-strikes\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">international outrage and widespread protests<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Israeli military was jamming signals with at least two boats being boarded, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition said on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThe Israeli military has no legal jurisdiction over international waters,\u201d it added. \u201cOur flotilla poses no harm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThree vessels \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/gaza\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gaza<\/a> Sunbirds, Alaa Al-Najjar, and Anas Al-Sharif \u2013 have been attacked and illegally intercepted by the Israeli military\u201d early morning, 220km off the coast of Gaza, organisers said on X.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">It said another ship, the Conscience was also \u201cunder attack\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Israeli foreign ministry confirmed it had intercepted boats attempting to reach Gaza and that those on board would be transferred to an Israeli port where they would be deported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cAnother futile attempt to breach the legal naval blockade and enter a combat zone ended in nothing,\u201d the ministry said in a post online.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Freedom Flotilla Coalition is an international network of pro-Palestinian activist groups that organises civilian maritime missions aimed at breaking Israel\u2019s blockade of Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The ships carried aid worth more than $110,000 in medicines, respiratory equipment and nutritional supplies intended for Gaza\u2019s starving hospitals, the FFC said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The incident was the second such event in recent days, after Israel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/oct\/01\/israeli-military-vessels-pro-palestinian-flotilla-gaza\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">intercepted about 40 vessels and detained more than 450 activists<\/a> in an aid convoy, the Global Sumud Flotilla, that was also attempting to deliver supplies to Gaza.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Some activists on board \u2013 including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/oct\/06\/gaza-flotilla-members-allege-beatings-and-insults-in-israeli-detention\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alleged being subjected to brutal physical and verbal<\/a> abuse by Israeli forces during their detention this week<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Their detention drew mass protests
