Plans to open a nursery and children’s centre could be refused due to issues around parking and traffic.<\/p>\n

Planning officers said the proposal for Malik House in Springfield Road, Millhouses, Sheffield, had “the potential to generate a significant increase in parking demand” and disrupt traffic.<\/p>\n

Their report also stated that a lack of drop-off facilities for children would likely result in “inappropriate parking”, which in turn would obstruct the footway and pose a risk to pedestrian safety.<\/p>\n

Sheffield City Council’s planning and highways committee will discuss the application on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

A total of 30 people have lodged objections while 81 supported the proposals.<\/p>\n

The nursery’s total capacity would be 63 children each day, but the maximum at any one time would be 55.<\/p>\n

Documents state the applicants want to care for up to 12 babies and 35 pre-school children per session and proposes to operate Monday to Friday between 07:00 to 19:00, the Local Democracy Reporting Service reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another eight children, aged five to 11, would be cared for before and after school or at holiday clubs.<\/p>\n

As the four-bedroom house is in a residential area, planning officers stated that neighbours would have to cope with increased noise and possible disruption to the “quiet enjoyment” of their gardens.<\/p>\n
