Hammerson is asking city council planners for permission to transform the area between Newfoundland Way at the bottom of the M32 and the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/cabot-circus\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Cabot Circus<\/a> multi-storey car park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">The planning application includes a 28-storey tower block which would be a PBSA &#8211; purpose-built student accommodation &#8211; for 600 students, along with a multi-purpose community pavilion, a pocket park and some flexible outdoor amenity space.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">At present the space at the approach to the distinctive multi-storey car park, with its twin spiral external ramps, is used by a vehicle rental company, but Hammerson want to redevelop it with what will be one of Bristol\u2019s tallest buildings, right at the entrance to the city for people travelling down the M32.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">\u201cThe plans aim to put pedestrians at the heart of the redevelopment with a new pedestrian route as well as a shared cycle lane,\u201d said a spokesperson for the company. \u201cExtensive planting and landscaping will provide new green spaces for the community to use and enjoy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">\u201cHammerson is in talks with a local community group which could become the occupier of the new community space,\u201d he added.
