\n Local’s are invited to step into a world of glitter balls and glamour as Birmingham Gay Symphony Orchestra hosts a dazzling afternoon of Latin and ballroom magic.\n <\/p>\n
You can join the fun at 3pm on Saturday 6th December at The Church at Carr\u2019s Lane for a concert that promises sparkle, style, and sheer joy.<\/p>\n
The orchestra will perform works evoking the elegance of classical ballroom. They’ll waltz to Johann Strauss Jr’s\u00a0The Blue Danube,\u00a0swing to a Duke Ellington medley,\u00a0and feel the heat with de Falla’s show-stopping\u00a0Ritual Fire Dance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The ensemble will turn up the Latin rhythms with the Mambo from Bernstein’s\u00a0West Side Story\u00a0and\u00a0Piazzolla’s\u00a0Libertango; and there’s something for audience members of all ages, from quickstepping to a medley from\u00a0Aladdin\u00a0and disco dancing to\u00a0I Will Survive,\u00a0through to ending the night with a shot of\u00a0Tequila!<\/p>\n
Musical Director, Neavan Lobban, who will conduct the concert, said:\u00a0\u201cAs \u2018Strictly\u2019 fever sweeps the nation, we\u2019re turning up the festive fun with a concert that\u2019s full of fun, flair, and fabulous music.<\/p>\n
“From tango to showtunes and even a touch of disco, it\u2019s going to be a magical afternoon, and I can\u2019t wait to welcome everyone to the BGSO Ballroom. Don\u2019t forget your dancing shoes!\u201d<\/p>\n
Orchestra chair and concertmaster Kat Galbraith added:\u00a0<\/b>\u201cIf you\u2019re anything like me and count down to the return of \u2018Strictly Come Dancing\u2019, you\u2019re going to love the programme we\u2019ve put together for our \u2018BGSO at the Ballroom\u2019 concert.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019ve got an American smooth, a quick step, tangos, waltzes; there\u2019s even a cheeky cha-cha-cha and so much more! We hope everyone joins us for an afternoon of pure celebration.\u201d<\/p>\n
