There\u2019s always one person in the family who ends up having to be the mediator. In the case of the royal family, it seems like that role is now going to Prince Harry<\/a>, who is reportedly trying to calm things down with his brother, Prince William<\/a>. All this comes after William reportedly took offense to a video Meghan Markle<\/a> posted from her visit to Paris for Fashion Week.<\/p>\n

Rob Shuter reports from palace\u00a0insiders<\/a> that Prince Harry<\/a> is \u201ctrying to calm things privately\u201d following William\u2019s strong reaction to the clip, which shows Markle in a limousine being driven around Paris with her feet up on the seat in front of her. The problem? The car drove somewhat close to the tunnel where Princess Diana<\/a> passed away, which is why the video has been labeled as \u201cinsensitive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shuter reported that the prince \u201csaw the clip and went white with anger\u201d and is now \u201clivid beyond words.\u201d That\u2019s not all, \u201cTo him, it wasn\u2019t just bad taste \u2013 it was personal desecration,\u201d the source added. \u201cThat tunnel is sacred ground. For Meghan to treat it like a selfie moment was the ultimate insult.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yet another staffer told Shuter that William \u201csaid it was grotesque. He couldn\u2019t believe she\u2019d film herself near the very spot that destroyed his family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Where does Harry stand in all of this? He\u2019s apparently doing everything he can to contain it. \u201cHarry\u2019s caught in the middle again,\u201d an insider said. \u201cHe knows it looks bad but is trying to calm things privately.\u201d Insiders also said this is, in many ways, a symptom of the fact that William \u201cdoesn\u2019t understand social media,\u201d pointing out that Markle\u2019s video was \u201cartistic, not offensive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Indeed, the report even says that William immediately called aides to demand \u201cevery copy of that footage be taken down,\u201d which is very much not how things work. And others are coming to Markle<\/a>\u2019s defense, indicating they don\u2019t believe it was meant to be offensive, even if they don\u2019t understand the point of it.<\/p>\n

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told The Daily Mail<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t understand what on earth she was thinking. No adviser would ever advise doing something so strange,\u201d adding, \u201cShe has every right to go to fashion events, but to share a video which had any connections with the tragic death of the Princess of Wales defies belief. She couldn\u2019t possibly have intended to be disrespectful, but it\u2019s another example of the Sussexes doing something that makes no sense at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

This new controversy comes after Prince Harry and King Charles recently met for the first time in over a year, something that was widely seen as a good first step towards a larger reconciliation. In fact, Prince Harry even suggested that, in light of it, he was willing to reconsider his position on taking his kids to the UK.
