That was the message from one of the country\u2019s biggest housing associations, which wants to build more than 150 new homes on the site alongside the River Avon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">Police are continuing to investigate the blaze that took hold at the old Bristol Metal Spraying facility at the western end of Coronation Road in<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/ashton-gate\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Ashton Gate<\/a> on Saturday afternoon. The cause of the fire <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/dramatic-aftermath-huge-fire-former-10550681\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">is being considered as arson <\/a>because witnesses say they saw a group of youths running away from the site, just before smoke started billowing from the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">The site, known as the Former Payne\u2019s Shipyard after its original industrial use in the 19th and early 20th centuries, has been empty since Bristol Metal Spraying closed down in late 2020.
