{"id":484994,"date":"2025-10-09T06:46:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T06:46:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/484994\/"},"modified":"2025-10-09T06:46:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T06:46:14","slug":"outwood-students-return-from-cambodia-camps-international","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/484994\/","title":{"rendered":"Outwood students return from Cambodia \u2014 Camps International"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The trip, organised in partnership with Camps International, marks the first time in 12 years that students from 17 different Outwood secondary schools joined the same expedition.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Students and staff spent four weeks in Cambodia, exploring Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>Students were involved in community initiatives(Image: Supplied)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The expedition offered a unique, hands-on learning experience, contributing to 10 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Outwood students participated in activities including environmental work, community initiatives, and even obtained an open water diving certification.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  This initiative provided a platform for personal growth, aiding the development of essential life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and cultural awareness.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>Students worked on local environmental projects.(Image: Supplied)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Glenn Hughes, a learning manager at Outwood Academy Normanby in Middlesbrough, was one of the chaperones on the trip.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He said: &#8220;The experience in Cambodia was life-changing for many of our students.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Being able to experience a different culture and develop themselves in many different ways is invaluable.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The support and guidance from Camps International, as well as their enthusiasm and obvious love for the job, rubbed off on everyone.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>The group contributed to 10 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(Image: Supplied)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;JP and Jess helped so much over the month.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;If I had one criticism, it was that we were unable to stay longer than we did.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I would recommend Camps International expeditions to anyone;
