Prince William\u2019s<\/strong> alleged feud with Prince Harry<\/strong> and Meghan Markle<\/strong> is public knowledge, and the future king<\/a>\u2019s rare TV conversation was telling. During an appearance on Apple TV+\u2019s \u201cThe Reluctant Traveler,\u201d the Prince of Wales briefly mentioned his brother and then moved on. <\/p>\n

Palace watchers see the brief mention as a marker of where the relationship stands now \u2014 acknowledged, but maybe not part of the plan ahead.<\/p>\n

Prince William sat down for a conversation with Eugene Levy, and his brief mention of Prince Harry<\/a> reportedly spoke volumes about the alleged feud with his brother and his wife, Meghan Markle. <\/p>\n

Speaking to the host, William said, \u201cI hope we don\u2019t go back to some of the practices in the past that Harry and I had to grow up in.\u201d He added, \u201cI\u2019ll do everything I can to make sure we don\u2019t regress in that situation.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Historian Robert Lacey told PEOPLE<\/a> that the phrasing was significant, saying, \u201cThey are clearly part of the past. He talked about his brother in the past, as part of his life \u2014 not in the future.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Levy, who met William in Windsor for the program, emphasized that there were no restrictions around sensitive topics. He told reporters, \u201cI was not told I couldn\u2019t ask anything.\u201d However, he added, \u201cIt\u2019s a very delicate issue.\u201d <\/p>\n

Royal biographer Andrew Morton stressed, \u201cIf you want the prince to talk openly, you avoid asking about his brother.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, the episode showcased William\u2019s outlook as a future king. Over a pub conversation, he stated, \u201cI think it\u2019s safe to say that change is on my agenda. Change for good.\u201d <\/p>\n

A source with ties to the palace told PEOPLE <\/a>that William aims \u201c[To be] more accessible, more approachable.\u201d In contrast to what biographer Sally Bedell Smith has called the royal habit of \u201costriching,\u201d and \u201cavoiding discussions of emotional problems in hopes that they would go away,\u201d William\u2019s remarks hinted at a more open, modern style.<\/p>\n
