{"id":485646,"date":"2025-10-09T12:37:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T12:37:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/485646\/"},"modified":"2025-10-09T12:37:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T12:37:11","slug":"china-sees-uptick-in-super-golden-week-spending-amid-record-travel-surge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/485646\/","title":{"rendered":"China sees uptick in \u2018super golden week\u2019 spending amid record travel surge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">China logged a welcome uptick in spending on services during the just-concluded eight-day \u201csuper golden week\u201d public holiday, as the country\u2019s transport hubs handled record numbers of passengers.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Chinese transport authorities logged 2.432 billion passenger trips \u2013 a record high and a 6.2 per cent year-on-year increase \u2013 during this year\u2019s extended holiday, which combined the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The surge was mainly driven by overlapping demand for tourism and family visits, as well as recent improvements to China\u2019s transport network, the Ministry of Transport said in a statement released on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The number of passengers taking rail, air and boat trips rose by 2.6 per cent, 3.4 per cent and 4.2 per cent, respectively, during this year\u2019s golden week, with travel concentrated in urban clusters such as the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Greater Bay Area and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the ministry said.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Consumers also spent more than last year during the holiday, data from the State Taxation Administration indicated.
