\u201cOne Battle After Another\u201d star Teyana Taylor and \u201cLove Island USA\u201d breakout Olandria Carthen will be among the special honorees at this year\u2019s Ebony Power 100 Gala.<\/p>\n
Taylor will be recognized as Entertainer of the Year at the ceremony, scheduled for Nov. 4 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The award salutes the multihyphenate talent for \u201credefining the meaning of entertainer for a new generation,\u201d following a run of recent hits including an award-worthy performance in Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s latest film and the release of the visual album, \u201cEscape Room.\u201d<\/p>\n
More from Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n Carthen, who became a social media sensation after appearing on \u201cLove Island USA,\u201d is the winner of the fan-voted people\u2019s choice award. Carthen was nominated alongside Tony-winning stage legend Audra McDonald, singer Elmiene, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, tennis star Taylor Townsend and Emmy nominee Tracee Ellis Ross.<\/p>\n Ross will also receive special honors at the ceremony; she\u2019ll be presented with the prestigious Pathbreaker of the Year award, saluting her for her artistry and work advancing representation and inclusion in the entertainment and beauty industries.<\/p>\n Rounding out the lineup of special honorees are supermodel Iman, who will receive the Icon of the Year award in celebration of her pioneering 50-year career in fashion; Lonnie G. Bunch III, the 14th secretary of the Smithsonian, who will receive the Humanitarian of the Year award; and NBA legend turned business titan Shaquille O\u2019Neal, who will be presented with the Entrepreneur of the Year award.<\/p>\n Comedian, writer and actor Robin Thede will host the Ebony Power 100 Gala, which celebrates the storied brand\u2019s 80th year.<\/p>\n Led by CEO Eden Bridgeman Sklenar, Ebony continues to celebrate and elevate Black excellence and year\u2019s lineup of Power 100 honorees embodies that mission. The list includes Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson (as hosts of \u201cThe IMO Podcast\u201d), Blue Ivy Carter, \u201cGirlfriends\u201d and \u201cForever\u201d creator Mara Brock Akil, Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Sterling K. Brown, Tony Award winner Kara Young, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin, recent \u201cSNL\u201d alum Ego Nwodim, creator & activist RaeShanda Lias, Waymo co-CEO Tekedra N.
