The military assistance mission EUMAM Ukraine reflects this resolve – and serves as a powerful symbol of European solidarity and empowerment of freedom.

As the Commander of the Multinational Special Training Command in Strausberg, I am responsible for coordinating and providing the training of Ukrainian armed forces personnel in Germany. Since the mission began in mid-2022, we have trained approximately 22,000 soldiers here – with the aim of training several thousand more each year, for as long as necessary. Across Europe, more than 81,000 members of the Ukrainian armed forces have been trained so far.

The training is tailored to Ukraine’s needs: the focus is on land warfare – for example, the training of tank crews, medical personnel, and command staff. Currently, there is a particularly high demand for platoon leaders, company commanders, and brigade commanders, as well as instructors who can pass on their knowledge in Ukraine.

“What we achieve here goes far beyond training – it is demonstrated solidarity in fostering the defence of Europe’s freedom,” I say with deep conviction.

We work closely with our European partners: while Germany is responsible for mainly training specialists and technical personnel, the Combined Arms Training Command in Poland handles the training of larger units. Requests come directly from Ukraine via liaison officers, and planning is carried out in close coordination with the Bundeswehr and our multinational partners. After completing their training, the soldiers return to the frontline – often just a few days later.

“It is a substantial contribution – because Ukraine is also fighting for our freedom, and we are doing everything within our power to support them.” Our work, this mission, stands for the shared European will and is far more than just a military task for us. Standing with Ukraine in its fight against aggression – today, tomorrow, and for as long as necessary – is our common European duty.

Olaf Rohde

Major General

Commander MN ST-C

Since Russia’s unlawful and horrific attack on the people and the territory of Ukraine in February 2022,…

[5174
2000,299,5187,1699
0":"post-485726","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-eu","8":"tag-eu","9":"tag-europe","10":"tag-european","11":"tag-european-union
["GET
