\n United Airlines is returning to Glasgow Airport<\/a> in 2026 to reinstate direct flights from the city to its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport.\n<\/p>\n

\n The new service will take off on May 8 and will run daily until September 23, 2026.\n<\/p>\n

\n It is the first time United has operated at Glasgow since 2019.\n<\/p>\n

\n The Glasgow to New York\/Newark flight will be operated by a Boeing 737 MAX-8 aircraft, which has a total of 166 seats.\n<\/p>\n

\n Sixteen of these are premium economy seats, 54 are economy plus seats, and the remaining 96 are economy seats.\n<\/p>\n

\n The route has been hailed as a \u201clandmark achievement\u201d which is expected to bring \u201cconsiderable cultural and tourism benefits\u201d by business and civic leaders.\n<\/p>\n

\n United Airlines\u2019 hub at Newark Liberty International Airport is its largest East Coast hub and a significant base for both domestic and international flights, especially to Europe.\n<\/p>\n

\n The hub connects passengers to destinations across North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Middle East.\n<\/p>\n

\n The return of United Airlines to Glasgow is said to further strengthen Glasgow Airport\u2019s transatlantic connectivity and support tourism, business, and cultural links between Scotland and the United States.\n<\/p>\n

\n Councillor Susan Aitken<\/a>, leader of Glasgow City Council<\/a>, welcomed the move.\n<\/p>\n

\n She said: \u201cThis is a very welcome return to Glasgow for United Airlines and a significant boost for our economy.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThe US is Glasgow\u2019s largest international visitor market. The reintroduction of a direct, daily\u00a0seasonal\u00a0service between two of the world\u2019s most dynamic destinations will bring considerable cultural and tourism benefits, as well as connect businesses across the west of Scotland with one of the world\u2019s largest economies.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThere will undoubtedly be strong demand for this new route and we are looking forward to working with United Airlines, Glasgow Airport and wider city and national partners to ensure it is a success.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
