But it seems Prince William<\/a> was very conscious to make sure his children had a relatively normal childhood. He was intent on not recreating the events that he experienced.<\/p>\n While appearing on Eugene Levy\u2019s Apple TV+ series<\/a>, The Reluctant Traveler, he made a rare comment about his parents divorce.<\/p>\n When William was young Princess Diana and then Prince Charles has a very public divorce<\/a>. Judging by William\u2019s comments, it\u2019s something he never wanted to repeat to his kids.<\/p>\n William was asked about his hopes of his children having a \u201crelatively normal home life\u201d when he made the comments.<\/p>\n He responded: \u201cI think it\u2019s really important that that atmosphere is created at home. You have to have that warmth, that feeling of safety, security and love.\u201d<\/p>\n However, while William went on to confirm he had all of those things, he referenced his parents divorce which meant it didn\u2019t last forever.<\/p>\n William continued: \u201cThat all has to be there, and that was certainly part of my childhood.<\/p>\n \u201cMy parents got divorced at 8, so that lasted a short period of time.\u201d<\/p>\n William went on to express how he doesn\u2019t want to make the \u201csame mistakes as your parents\u201d.<\/p>\n He admitted: \u201cYou try and make sure you don\u2019t do the same mistakes as your parents.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we all try and do that. I just want to do what is best for my children. But I know that the drama and the stress when you\u2019re small, really affects you when you\u2019re older.\u201d<\/p>\n While he witnessed quite a lot at such a young age, watching how the media handled situations with his parents definitely inspired how he would parent.<\/p>\n He explained to Eugene: \u201cGrowing up, I saw that with my parents. The media were so insatiable back then. It\u2019s hard to think of it now, but they were much more insatiable.<\/p>\n \u201cThey wanted every bit of detail they could absorb. And they were in everything, literally everywhere. They would know things and they would be everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n But having experienced all of that, William remained determined that he would \u201cfight against\u201d it if it were to happen to his family.<\/p>\n William added: \u201cIf you let that creep in, the damage it can do to your family life is something that I vowed would never happen to my family.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd so, I take a very strong line about where I think that line is.
