{"id":486362,"date":"2025-10-09T18:55:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T18:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/486362\/"},"modified":"2025-10-09T18:55:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T18:55:12","slug":"edinburgh-and-glasgow-dominate-as-scotland-women-in-technology-swit-awards-shortlist-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/486362\/","title":{"rendered":"Edinburgh and Glasgow dominate as Scotland Women in Technology (SWiT) awards shortlist announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The shortlist for the 2025 Scotland Women in Technology (SWiT) awards has been announced.<\/p>\n<p>More than 300 entries for received across the 10 categories for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prolificnorth.co.uk\/location\/scotland\/#:~:text=Aberdeen%20and%20BBC%20ALBA%20to%20host%202025%20Scots%20Trad%20Music%20Awards\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.prolificnorth.co.uk\/location\/scotland\/#:~:text=Aberdeen%20and%20BBC%20ALBA%20to%20host%202025%20Scots%20Trad%20Music%20Awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">awards<\/a> ceremony which is held to champion, celebrate, and invest in women in the technology ecosystem within <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prolificnorth.co.uk\/news\/reach-names-former-dc-thomson-exec-as-business-director-for-scotland\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.prolificnorth.co.uk\/news\/aberdeen-and-bbc-alba-to-host-2025-scots-trad-music-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scotland<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Glasgow and Edinburgh dominate the list with the two cities accounting for the vast majority of finalists. Almost half of all individuals and organisations shortlisted are based in Glasgow (18), with 14 finalists from Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p>Announced during a shortlisting event at JPMorganChase in Glasgow earlier tonight, 38 individuals and groups working across 27 organisations in 10 categories were recognised.<br \/>Among the categories, individuals from Arnold Clark, The Scottish Parliament, Morgan Stanley, IBM, FreeAgent, Edinburgh Napier University, Henderson Loggie, Insighting LTD and Gr\u00fcnenthal Group have been recognised for their passion, skills and dedication to progressing gender equity in their careers.<\/p>\n<p>The Career Changer of the Year category is particularly inspirational, where individuals with academic backgrounds in psychology as well as the hair and beauty industry have been shortlisted. Those nominated in the category include Dr Clare Daly, Founder of Dynamigo; Tracey Aitken, Co-founder at HairTracker; Melissa Fogwill, Chief Technology Officer of Henderson Loggie; and Carolanne Devlin-McLean, Entry Level Developer at The Scottish Parliament.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prolificnorth.co.uk\/news\/the-prolific-north-tech-awards-2025-the-shortlist\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.prolificnorth.co.uk\/news\/the-prolific-north-tech-awards-2025-the-shortlist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>READ MORE: <\/strong>The Prolific North Tech Awards 2025: The Shortlist<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As in previous years, the Inspirational Woman of the Year category will be hotly contested with five women in the running for the award. Those shortlisted in the category include Amanda Stewart, Managing Director and CTO of Illuminate Technology; Katherine Leyland, Software Test Engineer at 2i Testing; Prachi Agrawal, Executive Director at JPMorganChase; Megan Reutin, Global Head of Data Science and Strategy at Gr\u00fcnenthal Group; and Patty O\u2019Callaghan, Technical Director \u2013 Head of AI at Charles River Laboratories.<\/p>\n<p>Silka Patel, Founder and Chair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prolificnorth.co.uk\/news\/trailer-drops-for-bafta-winning-lauren-lyles-new-scottish-kiwi-drama-the-ridge\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.prolificnorth.co.uk\/news\/trailer-drops-for-bafta-winning-lauren-lyles-new-scottish-kiwi-drama-the-ridge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scotland<\/a> Women in Technology said: \u201cGender equity within the technology ecosystem is something that has been under threat for many years. However, as we have seen at a global level, it is vital that we recognise that the time for conversation is over on how we achieve this. What I love most about the awards is that each entry is testament to action being taken within industry and the fact we have received more than 300 entries this year \u2013 the most in the history of the SWiT Awards \u2013 reinforces the high regard that exists when it comes to driving diversity in Scotland.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony in the Radisson Blu in Glasgow on Thursday 6th November.
