Liverpool<\/a> are eager to offer Arne Slot<\/a> a new contract, with his agent reportedly already working on the deal. The 47-year-old Dutchman had an impressive debut season in Merseyside, leading Liverpool<\/a> to only their second Premier League title in 35 years and reaching the Carabao Cup final. Slot’s seamless transition following Jurgen Klopp<\/a>‘s exit was unexpected by many, but he quickly filled the gap left by the legendary Reds’ manager.<\/p>\n

He signed a three-year contract when he took over in May 2024, and now, not even halfway through that term, Liverpool<\/a> are keen to extend it. According to the Mail<\/a>, Anfield bosses want to move swiftly as they could face starting the next season with the former Feyenoord boss in the last year of his contract. This could pose a risk for Fenway Sports Group and mirror the sagas involving Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a> from the previous season.<\/p>\n

It’s worth noting that FSG offered Klopp a new six-year contract just nine months into his tenure. The report also states that Slot’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, is already working on a new set of terms.<\/p>\n

In May, when asked about the possibility of signing a new contract after securing the Premier League title in near-record time, Slot’s response didn’t surprise anyone. He has been keen to avoid getting involved in speculation about contracts and transfers since his arrival.<\/p>\n

“I think you are not going to be surprised about my answer,” Slot confessed. “I always try to stay away from that (speculation), I would say completely but as much as I can. So off the record is the same as on the record.<\/p>\n

“I don’t talk about contracts in public and I like that so much because if you start to talk so much off the record, your life is going to be much harder. I will always say on and off the record the same. So I say nothing or what I think I should say.”<\/p>\n

Slot did, however, entertain the notion of creating a legacy at Liverpool<\/a> and potentially outlasting Klopp’s nine-year tenure. “That’s hard to say [but] I could see it, yes,” he added.<\/p>\n

“But I think in general the football world has changed. There are not many managers that stay at a club for nine years because nine out of 10 times the board or someone at the club isn’t happy at a certain moment anymore.<\/p>\n

“That has changed a lot over the course of the last few years, in England especially. This club has a history of having managers for a long time and we also saw that with Arsene Wenger at Arsenal<\/a> and Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“But I think in general, in football and in life, there is not so much patience. Maybe England is an exception.
