{"id":486723,"date":"2025-10-09T22:06:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T22:06:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/486723\/"},"modified":"2025-10-09T22:06:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T22:06:11","slug":"celtic-explain-steps-behind-paul-tisdale-appointment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/486723\/","title":{"rendered":"Celtic explain steps behind Paul Tisdale appointment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The club addressed this at a recent meeting with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/sport\/celtic?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic<\/a> supporter group representatives and board members.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  They pointed out that Tisdale&#8217;s recruitment is part of the club&#8217;s structural modernisation to enhance European competition.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Fans were interested in other potential candidates and any pre-existing ties between Tisdale and the club.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It was clarified that several individuals were considered for the role.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  As part of the selection process, Tisdale was tasked with analysing the club&#8217;s game model, mapping the playing style and system, and using data to identify players fitting the club&#8217;s model.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  His performance was impressive, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/brendan-rodgers\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brendan Rodgers<\/a> backed the final decision to hire him.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The meeting minutes recorded: &#8220;The meeting discussed the Head of Football Operations role and the recruitment thereof, with confirmation sought as to whether a recruitment process was followed and if other candidates were interviewed, whether there was any pre-existing connection between the Clubs&#8217; current Head of Football Operations and any Celtic plc board members and whether the football manager was involved.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;CMcK (Chris McKay) confirmed that the Club spoke with several potential candidates that had been identified but that there was no external recruitment consultancy appointed.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;MN (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/michael-nicholson\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael Nicholson<\/a>) confirmed that there was no family or business connection between the current Head of Football Operations and Celtic plc board members, but that individuals had crossed paths previously.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;MN confirmed that the manager supported the recruitment of Paul Tisdale following a consultancy period last summer.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;CMcK confirmed that Paul Tisdale had worked on a project in which he analysed the Club&#8217;s game model with a view to mapping the Club&#8217;s playing style and system with a view to using data driven results to identify players who fit the Club&#8217;s model.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The club addressed this at a recent meeting with Celtic supporter group representatives and board members.
