The Florrie Men\u2019s Walking Group set off at 10.30am this morning (Thursday, October 9) from The Florrie community centre on Mill Street. The walk will continue through the night, concluding at 10.30am on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The event is part of the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/how-walking-making-big-impact-27893480#comments-wrapper\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"group\u2019s annual mental health campaignLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">group\u2019s annual mental health campaign<\/a>, Walk Florrie, which invites people from all walks of life to get involved in any way they can.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">This year\u2019s theme, \u201cUntil You\u2019ve Walked a Mile in Someone\u2019s Shoes&#8221;, encourages participants to reflect on the unseen challenges others may face, and<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/how-walking-making-big-impact-27893480#comments-wrapper\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" how walking together can encourage empathy, understanding, and solidarity.Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> how walking together can encourage empathy, understanding, and solidarity.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">People can walk anywhere, anytime during the 24-hour period, whether it\u2019s one mile or ten, in slippers, trainers, or work boots. Suicide remains the biggest cause of death for men under 50 in England and Wales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Tony Caveney, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/mental-health\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"founder of Walk FlorrieLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">founder of Walk Florrie<\/a>, said: \u201cWe know that walking side by side builds trust, breaks barriers, and opens up conversations that wouldn\u2019t happen elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">&#8220;This year\u2019s theme encourages us all to pause and consider what others might be going through, and how a simple act like walking can create space for healing, listening, and belonging.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The Walkathon welcomes everyone, whether you want to walk for an hour, a few miles, or even the full 24 hours.
