An investigation is underway after a pupil brought a knife in to a primary school in Birmingham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A letter was sent to parents and carers of children at Paget Primary School in Pype Hayes after the child brought the blade in and showed it to their classmates on Tuesday (October 7).<\/p>\n

The acting headteacher Lisa Dodd said a probe was immediately launched as soon as they learned of the incident and asked for the community not to speculate.<\/p>\n

No children were harmed, but those affected are being given ‘appropriate support’, she said.<\/p>\n

The letter read: “I am writing to inform you about a safeguarding incident that took place at school yesterday.<\/p>\n

“After the end of the school day, we received reports that a knife had been brought into school and shown to a small number of pupils.<\/p>\n

“I would like to assure you that at no point were any pupils or staff harmed.<\/p>\n

“I have been in direct contact with parents and carers of the children affected.<\/p>\n

“These children are being given the appropriate support through our safeguarding and pastoral team.<\/p>\n

“I would like to assure you; we are taking this incident very seriously and working with the relevant agencies to address the concerns robustly.<\/p>\n

“At Paget Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff is of paramount importance.<\/p>\n

“Due to the nature of the investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time, but I would like to reassure you that we are committed to safeguard all children in our care.<\/p>\n

“We understand how concerning an incident of this nature will be to you. I would like to reassure you that such incidents are incredibly rare.<\/p>\n
