Victoria Beckham once shut down King Charles III’s<\/a> suggestion that she and David Beckham<\/a> could perform a duet. The story stemmed from 2000 when Victoria was making her maiden showing as a solo artist at Party in the Park.<\/p>\n Victoria<\/a> is making headlines once again this week with the release of her new Netflix show.<\/a> However, she grabbed column inches 25 years ago at the event that was held in London’s Hyde Park to raise funds for the Prince’s Trust charity.<\/p>\n Victoria was debuting her new material alongside icons such as Sir Elton John <\/a>and Christina Aguilera while King Charles,<\/a> then a Prince, watched on. The King later took the opportunity to chat with some of the performers backstage, including the artist formerly known as Posh Spice.<\/p>\n Victoria said: “I was telling him [The King] how I was really nervous about performing because this was the first time I’ve appeared before 100,000 people.”<\/p>\n Brutally curtailing the King’s suggestion that David may join her for a rendition of one of her songs, Victoria added: “He asked me how Brooklyn (her and David’s son) was getting on, and then he asked if David and I had any plans to do a duet. After the band split up in 2001, she transitioned to fashion and launched her first label in 2008 before expanding her brand to include luxury accessories. Victoria Beckham<\/a> Beauty then followed.<\/p>\n Victoria and David have since developed <\/a>friendships with the King<\/a> and other Royals after meeting several times over the years. In 2024, David was announced as an ambassador of the King’s Foundation, the charity that runs Highgrove, and has even held private meetings with Charles.<\/p>\n David was knighted in June of this year. He also made headlines when he queued for 13 hours to see the Queen’s coffin<\/a> lying in state following her death in 2022.<\/p>\n Victoria has attended royal weddings and was made an OBE in 2017. On the day of the King’s coronation in May 2023, the former Spice Girl posted a series of pictures on social media of herself with King Charles<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the photos, Victoria and her fellow Spice Girls smiled as they met the then-Prince of Wales. In another, she held hands with a young Prince Harry.<\/a><\/p>\n She captioned the images: “I have so many fond memories of meeting His Majesty throughout my career, and he is always so supportive and kind. Today is a truly historic day, and I’m incredibly humbled to celebrate King Charles III and Queen Camilla<\/a> as they embark on their new roles.”<\/p>\n Victoria’s relationship with ex-Manchester United star David has also ensured, with the duo remaining one of the world’s most talked-about couples for almost 30 years. Victoria is now starring in a three-part documentary series on Netflix,<\/a> in which she is expected to shed light on their long-term relationship.<\/p>\n The show comes from the creators of the Emmy award-winning series Beckham, which focused on her husband.
