Rangers<\/a> are considering appointing former Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl as Russell Martin\u2019s successor, according to Rangers Review<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Ibrox side are on the lookout for a new manager following Martin\u2019s sacking on Sunday and are believed to be evaluating several names<\/a> who could take charge mid-season.<\/p>\n

While Gerrard is seen as a leading candidate and would be open to a return to the club<\/a> four years after his departure, Rohl\u2019s name is also under consideration for the second time in the last four months.<\/p>\n

Rangers looked at appointing the German before they hired Martin on a three-year contract in June and had been in talks with Rohl over his potential arrival in the summer.<\/p>\n

Rohl is available after leaving his role at Sheffield Wednesday in July, two weeks before the start of the Championship season.<\/p>\n

According to Rangers Review, Rangers are considering both Gerrard and Rohl for the managerial vacancy at Ibrox, while former Burnley boss Sean Dyche does not appear to be on the shortlist despite previous reports claiming otherwise<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rohl took charge at Sheffield Wednesday in October 2023, with the club sitting bottom of the Championship table, and miraculously avoided relegation in his first season, finishing 20th following an unbeaten run of six games at the end of the campaign.<\/p>\n

The Owls then finished 12th in 2024\/25 but won just one of their final nine matches, with any hopes of a play-off push fading away in the final weeks of the campaign.<\/p>\n

After the final game of last season at Watford, Rohl admitted that his time at Hillsborough could be up, before off-field issues took centre stage in pre-season, with Wednesday enduring a chaotic summer due to financial problems.<\/p>\n

Rohl left Wednesday by mutual consent at the end of July and has been available since, with Rangers now considering the 36-year-old among several other candidates for the Ibrox vacancy.<\/p>\n

Gers sacked Martin following their 1-1 draw at Falkirk on Sunday after the Scottish tactician managed just five wins from his first 17 games.<\/p>\n

Martin had faced increasing criticism and protests from Rangers supporters amid a dire run of results, with the Ibrox side winning just once in their opening seven Premiership games.<\/p>\n
