The heartbroken mum of a young schoolgirl who died after suffering a medical episode<\/a> has paid tribute to her “beautiful baby girl.” Olivia-Grace Huxter has been named locally as the eight-year-old pupil from Penrhys Primary School who died on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n Emergency services were called to the primary school in the Rhondda<\/a> after Olivia-Grace was taken ill. Despite the efforts of staff and paramedics she sadly died at hospital.<\/p>\n Paying tribute to her daughter mum Melanie wrote online: “My beautiful beautiful baby girl, I can’t eat, I can’t sleep without you.<\/p>\n “I’m so grateful I was able to hold you and sing you to sleep one last time with your favourite bedtime song.<\/p>\n “You were wanted, admired, and absolutely adored by everyone lucky enough to have known you.<\/p>\n “I don’t know what life will look like now.<\/p>\n “I love you to the moon and back …Twice.”<\/p>\n Penrhys Primary School was shut to all pupils on Thursday, October 9, after the “traumatic event”. Olivia-Grace was described as a “cherished member” of her Year Four class who “will be deeply missed by everyone”.<\/p>\n Some children from the primary school spent Thursday going around the Penrhys estate to collect money for Olivia-Grace’s family, which local councillor Julie Edwards described as an “amazing thing to do”.<\/p>\n “The kindness of children is something to be proud of,” she added. Get the latest Rhondda news first by signing up to our newsletter here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n In a post on the school’s Facebook<\/a> page on Wednesday afternoon the head teacher thanked parents for their messages of support and confirmed the school would be closed after the tragedy.<\/p>\n It said: “Due to the traumatic event that happened at our lovely school<\/a> this afternoon we will be closed for all children tomorrow. School will be open for children and staff again on Friday.”<\/p>\n Gaynor Davies, director of education and inclusion services at Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said: \u201cI am extremely saddened to hear about the tragic and sudden death of a pupil at Penrhys Primary School.<\/p>\n “I want to firstly express my deepest and heartfelt sympathies to her family, friends, and the wider school community.<\/p>\n “The year four pupil was a cherished member of her close-knit school community and will be deeply missed by everyone.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to thank school staff who administered first aid until paramedics arrived to take over and transport her to hospital where sadly she later passed away.<\/p>\n \u201cThe educational psychology and learner support service will be available to provide full support to pupils and staff as they come to terms with this very sad loss.<\/p>\n “The school will also continue to provide much needed support and reassurance to the children in their care.\u201d<\/p>\n Get daily breaking news updates on your phone by joining our WhatsApp community here<\/a>.
