Daniel Naughton was found dead near the M60 and has been described as a ‘local legend’<\/p>\n

The sister of a man who was found dead in a field near the M60<\/a> in Bury<\/a> has paid an emotional tribute to him.<\/p>\n

Police were called out to the field near to Sandgate Road, in Whitefield<\/a>, at around 10.45am on Monday, April 14, after a body was discovered.<\/a><\/p>\n

He has now been named by his family as 37-year-old Daniel Naughton.<\/p>\n

Known as Danny, he has been described as a ‘local legend’ on the nearby Hillock estate where he lived all his life.<\/p>\n

A big Manchester United<\/a> fan, he leaves behind dad Hubert Naughton, his sister Zoe Derbyshire, 37, and his nieces Keia, 14 and Shanay, 22.<\/p>\n

Zoe said he was an ‘amazing’ and ‘loveable’ character and that his death was ‘such a shock.’<\/p>\n

“He was just amazing” she said.<\/p>\n

“He was a local legend. He will be missed by many, many people.<\/p>\n

“He was a big United fan. He just loved life. He was a loveable character.<\/p>\n

“He lived on the estate all his life and he was loved by so many people.”<\/p>\n

The family are still awaiting confirmation of his cause of death from the coroner’s office.<\/p>\n

“It was so tragic the way he was found,” Zoe continued.<\/p>\n

“It was such a shock. I think it’s been a big shock for the community as well.<\/p>\n

“He was a big part of it so I think its had a ripple effect and affected a lot of people.”<\/p>\n

Zoe has launched a crowdfunding campaign in order to help give him the ‘best send off.’ Almost \u00a31,500 has already been raised.
