Cheltenham Town have signed USA Under-23 international defender Jonathan Tomkinson on a deal until the end of the season.<\/p>\n
The Texas-born 23-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Norwich City in the summer.<\/p>\n
Tomkinson, 6ft 4in, has previous League Two experience from loan spells with Stevenage and Bradford City, as well as a stint in the Scottish Premiership with Ross County.<\/p>\n
He made one Championship start for Norwich, away to Burnley in October 2022.<\/p>\n
Tomkinson faced Cheltenham during the 2020\/21 EFL Trophy campaign, playing for Norwich\u2019s Under-21s at Whaddon Road in a match settled by a George Lloyd goal<\/a>.<\/p>\n He becomes Steve Cotterill\u2019s second signing since returning as manager last Tuesday, following the arrival of experienced midfielder Ben Stevenson.<\/p>\n With forward George Miller sidelined until mid-January after hamstring surgery, there is now space in the squad for a third free agent addition outside of the transfer window.<\/p>\n Cheltenham visit Gillingham in League Two on Saturday (3pm).<\/p>\n READ MORE: Cheltenham Town is a special club.
