Manchester United’s board are in ‘talks’ over a possible summer move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson. The 25-year-old has been outstanding in Serie A this season, starting in all but three of Atalanta’s league matches.<\/p>\n
He won the Player of the Match following his side’s 1-0 win at AC Milan last Sunday and has been an integral part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s team as they bid to finish inside the Champions League<\/a> places. But Ederson, who was linked with a blockbuster move to Liverpool<\/a> last year, could leave Atalanta.<\/p>\n United have joined the race for the Brazil international and view him as a ‘dream’ midfield signing, according to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>. It’s added that United are keen to get a deal done in the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n With Christian Eriksen set to leave Old Trafford<\/a> and Casemiro’s future uncertain, United are expected to dip into the market to sign a new midfielder. And Ederson has been identified as someone that can improve Ruben Amorim’s midfield and add an extra ounce of quality and experience to that department.<\/p>\n Romano claims that any deal for Ederson, however, is going to be ‘quite expensive’ and United need to ensure they have the finances available to sign him. Reports have suggested that the former Salernitana man is valued at around \u00a342million – the same amount United paid to sign Manuel Ugarte 12 months ago.<\/p>\n Talks are ongoing between the United hierarchy regarding a summer move for Ederson and United think he has the potential to take their midfield to the next level and be a vital player for Amorim.<\/p>\n Elsewhere, a move for Ederson could trigger Casemiro’s departure. The Brazilian, 33, has one year left on his contract at United and there is talk that he may leave this summer, with clubs in Saudi Arabia interested.<\/p>\n However, Casemiro’s resurgence in the United team could see him remain in Manchester. He impressed in the 0-0 draw against Manchester City<\/a> earlier this month, which received praise from Amorim.<\/p>\n “The important thing with Casemiro is that he won everything with Real Madrid,” Amorim said at the time. “He wasn\u2019t playing because I understood that in that moment he wasn\u2019t the best option for how we want to play and he continued to work.<\/p>\n “I look at my players in the same way. If you improve what we ask of them, they have the opportunity. If they play well, they continue to play. That was the situation for Casemiro. The credit is all the player.
