{"id":489164,"date":"2025-10-10T20:02:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T20:02:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/489164\/"},"modified":"2025-10-10T20:02:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T20:02:11","slug":"chinese-firm-planning-1-5bn-turbine-plant-in-scotland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/489164\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese firm planning \u00a31.5bn turbine plant in Scotland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">But a Conservative MP has previously questioned the wisdom of letting the company invest in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Last November, MP Nick Timothy asked UK energy minister Michael Shanks about Ming Yang&#8217;s plans to invest in Scotland, saying the government should rule out investment from &#8220;hostile states&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Timothy said Ming Yang &#8220;benefits from huge subsidies in China,&#8221; adding any investment was subject to &#8220;serious questions about energy and national security&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The UK government&#8217;s Energy Secretary, Michael Shanks, said he would &#8220;encourage investment&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In a statement released on Friday, a UK government spokesperson said: &#8220;This is one of a number of companies that wants to invest in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Any decisions made will be consistent with our national security.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"But a Conservative MP has previously questioned the wisdom of letting the company invest in the UK.
