With Apple rumored to launch the second iteration of its AirTag some time in October<\/a>, wagers on the popular betting platform Polymarket are heating up, and largely coalescing around a sub-$30 price point for the coin-sized tracking device.<\/p>\n

Polymarket Is Currently Assigning A 68 Percent Probability To The Launch Of Apple AirTag 2 At A Sub-$30 Price Point<\/p>\n

The original Apple AirTag launched on April 20, 2021, during the heydays of the pandemic, at a price of $29<\/a>. <\/p>\n

As such, it is not a stretch of imagination to conceive a launch price of below $30 for the second iteration of the disc-like tracking device. <\/p>\n

Of course, given the additional bells and whistles that Apple is expected to add this time around, the AirTag 2 can also feasibly launch at a higher price point.<\/p>\n

While the launch date of the Apple AirTag 2 is not definitively known at the moment, the Polymarket contract<\/a> imaged above envisions an official release by June 30, 2026. Otherwise, the contract will automatically resolve to a “No” outcome. <\/p>\n

For the benefit of those who might not be aware, the first iteration of the AirTag leveraged Bluetooth, UWB, and NFC to track personal objects<\/a> such as keys, bags, apparel, and small electronic devices.<\/p>\n

Apple AirTag 2 is expected to feature<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

  1. A longer tracking range due to the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip.<\/li>\n
  2. Enhanced anti-stalking safeguards<\/a>, replete with a speaker that’d be much more difficult to physically remove, and which would sound an alarm if the device fails to detect its registered owner.<\/li>\n
  3. Low battery level alerts.<\/li>\n
  4. Deeper integration with other Apple products, including the Vision Pro<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
