The desire was definitely there, though we could’ve scored more goals. The opponent sat deep, and then even deeper after the red card. When you play against a team that sits this deep, then having a man more is irrelevant. In the end we deserved the win, which was much needed. We pressed well and won the ball back quickly. It’s not always easy to create chances when all opposing players are in their box,” said Nagelsmann (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

The early red card given to Luxembourg was a gamechanger, but Germany kept the pressure on and handled it well by not relenting. Sure, better efficiency around the goal could have made it 7-0 or 8-0, but maybe some of those goals will be needed for Northern Ireland on Monday.

That’s how it works, right?

Germany was in need of a good performance and Luxembourg was the right squad for the moment.

The team spirit appeared to be much higher than the last international where the German were flat and the renewed energy helped power the team to a 4-0 victory. An early red card played a massive role in the outcome, but Germany likely would have rolled easily even without being a man-up for three quarters of the match.

Let’s dive into all of the details from the match on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show!
