{"id":489839,"date":"2025-10-11T02:07:15","date_gmt":"2025-10-11T02:07:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/489839\/"},"modified":"2025-10-11T02:07:15","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T02:07:15","slug":"flynn-starmer-has-pushed-broken-britain-from-bad-to-worse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/489839\/","title":{"rendered":"Flynn: Starmer has pushed \u2018broken\u2019 Britain from \u2018bad to worse\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The SNP Westminster leader is expected to accuse the Labour Party of breaking its promises to voters in a scathing attack during the opening speech of the SNP\u2019s conference in Aberdeen.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Flynn will point to rising child poverty along with hikes in energy bills, food prices and gloomy forecasts for the UK economy.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2.81943881.jpg\" alt=\"Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer\" data-title=\"Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer visit to India\" data-copyright-holder=\"PA Wire\" data-copyright-notice=\"PA Wire\/PA Images\" data-credit=\"Leon Neal\" data-usage-terms=\"\"  \/>Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer was accused by the SNP of making the UK worse (Leon Neal\/PA)<\/p>\n<p>The Aberdeen South MP will pitch independence to party members as the solution to a Labour Government he will say has \u201cpower but no purpose\u201d and a Westminster system that \u201cisn\u2019t working for Scotland\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The politician, seen as a potential future leader of his party, is planning to leave Westminster for Holyrood at the May 2026 election.<\/p>\n<p>He will deliver the first speech of the SNP\u2019s three-day conference at The Event Complex Aberdeen on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>It comes after First Minister John Swinney, who will deliver the closing speech on Monday, launched the last of his Government\u2019s independence papers, the latter of which claimed Scots would be \u00a310,000 richer apart from the UK.<\/p>\n<p>In his speech, Mr Flynn will reiterate Mr Swinney\u2019s claims that Scotland would be better off as an independent country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScotland needs a fresh start with independence,\u201d he is expected to say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us be in no doubt. That independent future is essential \u2013 and you don\u2019t need to take my word for it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause consensus has broken out at Westminster. There is now a shared view amongst the public and the political class that Britain is broken.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Flynn will say the UK is \u201calight in the fires of the financial crash\u201d, which he will claim is \u201cleaving the burnt-out wreck of Westminster in plain view\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He will accuse Westminster of making people across the UK poorer while \u201csaddling\u201d them with austerity.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Flynn will say Labour has failed in its promise to improve the UK after taking over from the Tories and has made the country worse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause,\u201d he will say, \u201cthe truth is Keir Starmer\u2019s Labour Party has broken its promises and betrayed the trust that voters placed in them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder Starmer, broken Britain has gone from bad to hikes \u2013 issues he will say prove Labour has \u201cbetrayed\u201d voters and cannot be trusted.<\/p>\n<p>He will add: \u201cBut while it is vital to recognise the problems of the present, our real job is to offer people the choice of a better future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCreating a better future has never been more essential \u2013 Scotland must have the choice and the chance to build our nation anew.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is the choice that is before us \u2013 a choice that isn\u2019t going away no matter how much Westminster wants to silence Scotland and put us in our place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother generation forced to live under a Westminster system that doesn\u2019t work for Scotland \u2013 or a generation with the chance and choice to set Scotland on the path to a better future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is the hope that we have and it is the hope we offer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hope of a fresh start, and a better future, with independence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anas Sarwar said the SNP is \u201cdesperately out of touch squabbling over independence while services across Scotland are at breaking point\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" Scottish Labour leader added: \u201cWe can\u2019t risk a third decade of this tired and incompetent government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLabour delivered an extra \u00a35.2 billion for Scotland\u2019s public services, but no-one can see what the SNP has done with this money.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not as good as it gets \u2013 next year\u2019s election is about removing the SNP from power and only Scottish Labour can end their mismanagement and take Scotland in a new direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Sarwar said Scotland is at a \u201ccrossroad in our politics\u201d and warned the \u201cstakes are too high to risk a third decade of SNP government\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cOur NHS is already at breaking point, with nearly one in six Scots on a waiting list, chaos engulfing A&amp;E and ambulances and record numbers of people being forced to go private \u2013 I genuinely fear it may not survive another five years of SNP incompetence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne person dies from a drug overdose every seven hours in Scotland but hundreds of drug dealers have walked free because of court delays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cViolence is on the rise in our schools and a housing emergency is causing
