National Rail announced <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/rail-travel\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">services had been affected<\/a> following an incident between Manchester and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/newton-le-willows\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Newton-le-Willows<\/a> at around 8.20am today, October 11.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">It said emergency services were dealing with an incident and lines were closed so they could carry out their work, describing the effect as &#8220;major disruption&#8221;. Customers were told people travelling on Northern trains would be able to use their tickets on Transport for Wales services between Manchester and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/chester\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Chester <\/a>stations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">TransPennine customers were also told they could use their tickets on the following services:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"unordered-list\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">LNER services between Leeds and York<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Manchester Metrolink services between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">TransPennine Express, Northern or East Midlands Railway services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Piccadilly<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">TransPennine Express services between Manchester Piccadilly and York<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Several trains were cancelled as a result of the disruption, including services to York, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/manchester-airport\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchester Airport<\/a> and London Euston.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">All lines have since reopened following the incident, with National Rail warning trains may continue to be disrupted, with cancellations still a possibility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Trains may also be delayed as a result. Any disruption is expected to end at around 11.30am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">A National Rail spokesperson said on social media: &#8220;Lines have reopened following the emergency services dealing with an incident between Manchester Victoria\/Manchester Oxford Road and Newton-le-Willows earlier today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">&#8220;As services recover, trains operating through these stations may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
