King Charles is looking for a new security chief to protect Balmoral Castle against terrorist attacks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The role is being advertised on the Royal Family website<\/a> for \u00a355,000 a year, with the position to include safeguarding other locations aside from the King’s Aberdeenshire home.<\/p>\n

This includes Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Holyrood House in Edinburgh<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The applicant who is successful will be charged with ensuring the Royal Household “meets its protective security and legislative obligations across all sites” – including those in Scotland.<\/p>\n

As reported by the Scottish Daily Express<\/a>, the role is described as “safeguarding the spaces where communities come together”.<\/p>\n

The job advert adds that the new staff member, who will be based at Buckingham Palace<\/a>, will provide “trusted guidance” and play a “central role in something extraordinary”.<\/p>\n

Whoever takes on the role will lead the Household’s readiness for Terrorism Protection of Premises legislation, and carry out site assessments.<\/p>\n

They must have: “Practical knowledge of national and international security threats, with proven experience applying physical and technical security measures in sensitive or high-security environments.”<\/p>\n

A relevant security qualification from industry, police or military, and “demonstrable expertise in site and event security assessments” are essential.<\/p>\n

As with other roles with the royals, it comes with 25 days’ holiday (rising to 30) plus bank holidays and a generous pension plan, with the Royal Household<\/a> contributing 15%.<\/p>\n
