LEXINGTON, KY\u2014<\/b>Leon King Stable\u2019s\u00a0Florida-bred Bentornato<\/a>, a leading contender for the $2 million Cygames Breeders\u2019 Cup Sprint (Grade 1) to be run on Nov. 1 at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and the subject of an exclusive offering at the\u00a0Keeneland Championship Sale<\/a>, tuned up for the race Saturday by breezing a half mile in :50.80 under Irad Ortiz Jr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n On Oct. 29, a 25% ownership interest in Bentornato<\/a>, second in the Sprint last year, will be offered at the Keeneland Championship Sale in the Del Mar Paddock.<\/p>\n Trainer Jose D\u2019Angelo<\/a> noted that Bentornato\u2019s past and future racing schedule will appeal to buyers at the Championship Sale.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a unique opportunity to become a partner,\u201d he said. \u201cThis year we gave him time off to mature and grow. He is fresh and a good candidate to win the Breeders\u2019 Cup Sprint. And he will be fresh if we decide to go to the $20 million Saudi Cup (G1).\u201d<\/p>\n The Saudi Cup, billed as the world\u2019s richest race, will be contested Feb. 14 at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh.<\/p>\n D\u2019Angelo was pleased with Bentornato\u2019s activity this morning.<\/p>\n \u201cThe work was good with a strong gallop out like we had talked about,\u201d he said. \u201cHe started slow and relaxed like he did in his last race [when he won the Listed Louisville Thoroughbred Society Stakes<\/a> at Churchill Downs on Sept. 13.]<\/p>\n The Louisville Thoroughbred Society was Bentornato\u2019s first start since the Breeders\u2019 Cup Sprint<\/a>, when he was beaten a half-length.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Bentornato is by Bridlewood Farm stallion Valiant Minister<\/a> out of Her Special Way<\/a>, by Put It Back<\/a> and was bred in Florida by Tanma Corp. His record stands at six wins with two seconds and two thirds in 10 starts, which includes his triumph in the 2024 Gallant Bob (G2)<\/a> at Parx.
