There’s been renewed calls for the ban of fireworks\"BirkenheadBirkenhead Park(Image: Liverpool Echo)<\/p>\n

Police officers have increased patrols in Birkenhead Park on the Wirral<\/a> following a rise in reports of anti social behaviour and the misuse of fireworks.<\/p>\n

Taking to Facebook<\/a> today (Saturday October 11), Merseyside Police’s “Wirral Police” page said: “Due to a rise in reports of anti-social behaviour and the misuse of fireworks, Merseyside Police are stepping up patrols in and around Birkenhead<\/a> Park. We\u2019re committed to keeping our community safe and ensuring the park remains a welcoming space for everyone.”<\/p>\n

“If you see or hear anything concerning, please report it via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers.<\/p>\n

“Let\u2019s work together to keep our park peaceful and safe.”<\/p>\n

The post prompted calls for the banning of fireworks from several in the comments section.<\/p>\n

Paula Niccolls said: “Every year I sign a petition to ban fireworks. Every year the police have the same problem. It causes distress to animals, also. The simple answer: just ban them.”<\/p>\n

Steve Harris added: “Time to ban the sale of fireworks to the public.”<\/p>\n
