A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the deaths of two children in Stafford.<\/p>\n

Staffordshire Police were called to a home on Corporation Street in Stafford at 7:30am on Sunday morning by West Midlands Ambulance.<\/p>\n

Two children were pronounced dead at the scene, said the force.<\/p>\n

A 43-year-old woman, from the Stafford area, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.<\/p>\n

Staffordshire<\/a> Police have asked the public not to speculate at this stage as the investigation progresses.<\/p>\n

A Staffordshire<\/a> Police spokesperson said: “A woman has been arrested following the death of two children in Stafford.<\/p>\n

“We were called to a home on Corporation Street at around 7.30am today (Sunday 12 October) by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Sadly, two children were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

“Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers at this tragic time.<\/p>\n

“A 43-year-old woman, from the Stafford area, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.”<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Kirsty Oldfield said: \u201cWe are working hard to understand more about what happened leading up to these two children tragically losing their lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe ask that people do not speculate at this stage as it is distressing for family and friends and could hinder our enquiries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe understand that this incident may cause concern in the local community. We don\u2019t believe there is wider threat to the public at this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cA cordon is currently in place at a home on Corporation Street.\u201d<\/p>\n
