Two regeneration projects that could transform two areas of Manchester and Salford<\/a> form part of the significant developments across the city-region.<\/p>\n

In Wythenshawe<\/a>, half-a-billion pounds has been earmarked to transform the town centre. Thousands of new homes, a \u2018culture hub\u2019, greenery, a food hall, and a larger public square have all been touted for the area on the edge of the Manchester borough.<\/p>\n

Over the River Irwell in Salford another multi-billion pound project is making progress.<\/p>\n

The 800-home plan for Salford Crescent has taken another step forward through a scheme for up to 185 apartments in the area.<\/p>\n

Forming part of the wider overhaul for the area, the new apartment block would be built on Farmer Norton car park on Cleminson Street.<\/p>\n

Here is a breakdown of each borough\u2019s recently submitted public notices<\/p>\n

BoltonThe mosque is on Harold Street in Halliwell<\/p>\n

Council decision to sell land for mosque car park \u2018called in\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

A new car park is set to be created next to a mosque after a council agreed to sell a patch of land for \u00a340,000.<\/p>\n

Bolton<\/a> council have agreed in principle to sell the area of open space on Harold Street North, Halliwell, to the trustees of the Makki Muslim Society with a restriction in place that it can only be used for a car park. A meeting of the deputy leader\u2019s portfolio heard the mosque was to be expanded and that development would \u2018eat into\u2019 part of their existing car park.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, Conservative councillor Adele Warren said she had concerns about the deal. After the decision to proceed with the deal was agreed, Coun Warren said she would \u2018call in\u2019 the decision for further scrutiny.<\/p>\n

ManchesterWhat will replace The Birtles in Wythenshawe(Image: Muse)<\/p>\n

Part of Wythenshawe Civic Centre to be demolished under plans for hundreds of homes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Half-a-billion pounds is being spent to revive Wythenshawe town centre, so it will boast a \u2018culture hub\u2019, greenery, a food hall, and a larger public square.<\/p>\n

The project also includes 2,000 new homes, and developers Muse have revealed designs for the first 400.<\/p>\n

Homes are eyed for Brotherton House, Alpha House, and The Birtles \u2014 with demolition planned for Alpha and The Birtles, one of the main shopping arcades in Wythenshawe Civic Centre.<\/p>\n

The Birtles\u2019 replacement would contain 80 one and two-bed flats, and commercial units on the ground floor. Ex-office block Alpha House would be demolished to make way for 125 one and two-bedroom apartments, including 16 wheelchair accessible units.<\/p>\n

Another office, Brotherton House, will not be pulled down, but converted into 215 homes, a mix of 25 townhouses, 80 flats and around 109 apartments for older people and those living with dementia.<\/p>\n

The regeneration project transforming one part of the city takes another step forward<\/strong><\/p>\n

The next phase of a massive regeneration project in Salford is moving forward, with plans for more homes submitted to the council.<\/p>\n

Developer ECF has revealed a scheme for up to 185 apartments in the city, on the western part of the Farmer Norton car park on Cleminson Street, which is close to Chapel Street and Trinity Way.<\/p>\n

These will be a mix of one, two and three-bedroom flats in the Adelphi Village neighbourhood, which aims to build more than 800 homes in total as part of the \u00a32.5bn Salford Crescent masterplan.<\/p>\n

StockportStockport Town Hall<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s someone in Westminster throwing a dart at a map\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

The leader of Stockport<\/a> council has criticised huge plans for a new 20,000-home town on Greater Manchester\u2019s border \u2013 describing it as \u2018someone in Westminster throwing a dart at a map\u2019.<\/p>\n

The New Towns Taskforce was set up by the government to find areas suitable for building new homes at scale, aimed at making a \u2018significant contribution to meeting housing demand in England.\u2019<\/p>\n

One of the sites earmarked for huge expansion is the village of Adlington in Cheshire East, located just a few miles away from the boundary with Stockport.<\/p>\n

Greek Street, Stockport \u2013 Road Closure<\/strong><\/p>\n

Until Spring 2026, Greek Street roundabout in Stockport will be closed for railway bridge replacement works.<\/p>\n

Works expected to last until Wednesday, April 1.<\/p>\n

Drivers issued warning as work ramps up on huge \u00a3230m link road 60 years in the making<\/strong><\/p>\n

Motorists can expect disruption over the next two weekends as progress on the bypass \u201860 years in the making\u2019 continues.<\/p>\n

The Mottram bypass has been an ongoing saga in Tameside<\/a> for decades, but now it is close to a reality with spades going in the ground back in May. The A57 link road scheme, estimated to be worth around \u00a3228m, is designed to tackle congestion between Manchester and Sheffield.<\/p>\n

National Highways, who are pressing on with the scheme, are now carrying out essential utility diversion work on Mottram Moor. Traffic Management will need to be in place continuously for a full 48 hour period from 6am Saturday morning until 6am Monday morning over the next two weekends as a result.<\/p>\n

Mottram-in-Longdendale\/Hollingworth, Tameside<\/strong><\/p>\n

Planned road layout changes will take place on Roe Cross Road & A57 Mottram Moor. The preliminary works are part of a wider project to build two new link roads between Manchester and Sheffield.<\/p>\n
