One Tottenham youngster had to wait for a long time to get an opportunity for his national side despite growing calls for him to play, but he is looking at the situation philosophically.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lucas Bergvall continues to be hailed as a future superstar at Tottenham<\/a>, and he is quickly becoming the toast of everyone at Spurs.<\/p>\n

It will be difficult for Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> fans to believe that the attacking midfielder is hardly getting a look for the Sweden national side despite his outstanding performances at club level.<\/p>\n

A former Djugardens official recently demanded that Bergvall be given an opportunity for Sweden<\/a>, pointing out that the youngster cannot do any more than he is for a top Premier League<\/a> side.<\/p>\n

Amidst the growing calls for the youngster to play, Sweden boss Jon Dahl Tomasson finally handed the 19-year-old a start in the World Cup qualifier against Switzerland on Friday.<\/p>\n

It was the Spurs man\u2019s first start for his country since November of last year, but things did not go according to plan for the Scandinavian country, who lost 2-0 at home.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Bergvall also missed an open goal during the match<\/a>, amidst a defeat that serves as a blow to Sweden\u2019s World Cup qualification hopes.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the game, the teenager was asked about his lack of minutes at the international level, and he responded to Goteborgs-Posten<\/a> (as relayed by Sport Witness<\/a>): \u201cThere are incredibly good players who perform week in and week out in the top leagues, then it is always up to Jon who plays, but there are incredibly good players. Sometimes you play, sometimes you don\u2019t play.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bergvall hailed for his attitude amidst Sweden snub<\/p>\n

Former Sweden international Anders Andersson has spoken about the way the Tottenham man has handled having to wait nearly 12 months between his fourth and fifth international caps.<\/p>\n

The pundit applauded the attacking midfielder for not sulking and continuing to show the right attitude despite being hard done by.<\/p>\n

Andersson is quoted as saying: \u201cI have to give Lucas Bergvall an applause because I think he handled it perfectly. I think Bergvall<\/a> deserves all the praise, especially now that he didn\u2019t get to play a single minute. I didn\u2019t see much negativity from him about it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good that you don\u2019t try to spread the negative mood yourself, but that you take it internally. It\u2019s sad for the journalists, but it\u2019s very good for the group.\u201d<\/p>\n
