WR Garrett Wilson<\/a> was limited to 3 catches for 13 yards Sunday after battling a Denver secondary that features reigning Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II, while the Jets’ offensive line was faced with a tough battle in the trenches — Denver OLB Nik Bonitto entered Week 6 leading the NFL with 7 sacks; he added 1 more against the Jets.<\/p>\n

“The O-line had to deal with a tough front up there, they do a good job on defense over there,” Wilson said. “It’s not always going to be as simple as, I’m open, I get the rock. So, I would just say — knowing the plan we have in totality, and just kind of staying and waiting and being ready for your moment if it does come.”<\/p>\n

Though Fields acknowledged Denver’s strong coverage and pressure up front, OL John Simpson<\/a> stressed the importance of finding a way to execute at a higher level regardless of the talent level of the opposition.<\/p>\n

“I feel like that’s on us as a unit, we’ve just got to better,” Simpson said. “At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what they throw at us — we’ve got to be able to pick it up. I feel like we could’ve done better out there today. We can’t let that happen. We’ve got to focus on us and get better this week.”<\/p>\n

The Jets were unable to find the end zone in the loss, but K Nick Folk<\/a> converted 3 FGs and a Denver penalty in the end zone resulted in a safety. Fields stressed the importance of playing more complementary football, and Simpson said the unit will look to rediscover its identity.<\/p>\n

“I feel like that showing out there wasn’t who we are, isn’t who we are,” Simpson said. “And I think we’ve just got to put our DNA out there.
