After the likes of House of Guinness<\/a>, Brassic<\/a>, DC\u2019s Clayface<\/a> and the upcoming Harlan Coben series<\/a> being filmed in Manchester<\/a>, we knew it wouldn\u2019t be long until something else major cropped up \u2013 and we have a good\u2019un on our hands. After reshaping the sci-fi genre with Black Mirror<\/strong>, Charlie Brooker<\/strong> is returning with a new crime series, and the production has been spotted filming with huge stars around Manchester<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The unnamed project is set to be a four-part detective series<\/strong> set between the fictional northern city of Bleakford<\/strong> and the streets of London<\/strong>, following a tormented detective on a relentless mission to catch a ritualistic serial killer<\/strong> before they run out of victims. The show is described as a \u201cprofoundly serious\u201d crime thriller, potentially a nod that Charlie\u2019s up to something wickedly funny.<\/p>\n

Leading the series is a powerhouse trio of British actors: Paddy Considine <\/strong>(House of the Dragon, MobLand), Georgina Campbell<\/strong> (Barbarian, The Watchers), and Lena Headey<\/strong> (Game of Thrones, The Abandons).<\/p>\n

Paddy Considine will lead the series, bringing with him a wealth of talent and knowledge from a successful career, including some of our favourites like House of the Dragon, MobLand, Dead Man\u2019s Shoes, Hot Fuzz<\/a><\/strong>, and Peaky Blinders<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The production has been seen filming around Castlefield, most notably under the viaducts and around the canals<\/a>, giving it the same bleak Victorian vibe as House of Guinness<\/a>. The area was recently used to film a scene in a homeless area in Gotham<\/strong> for Clayface, having been plastered with leaflets and posters alluding to its location \u2013 and the cast of Brooker\u2019s new series were seen donning Victorian peasant attire<\/strong>, although other more modern costumes were also seen, so we\u2019re expecting an element of time shifting.<\/p>\n

Other than Castlefield, the likes of the Northern Quarter<\/a> and Bowdon RUFC<\/strong> in Timperley, Altrincham<\/a> seem to have been used for filming the new Charlie Brooker series, with much of the detail being kept under wraps for now.<\/p>\n

The series is created and written by Brooker, and given his past endeavours, we can only imagine it\u2019ll have tons of nuance<\/strong>, a political and technological edge<\/strong>, and most definitely a touch of darkness<\/strong> \u2013 all wrapped up in some great laughs<\/strong>. Details on the release date are TBC, but Brooker promised Tudum<\/a> plenty of \u201cblood and frowning\u201d when the series finally drops.<\/p>\n
