A Birmingham Greggs was ordered to improve its hygiene after failing a recent inspection.<\/p>\n

The bakery chain is the only Birmingham<\/a> Airport business failing in hygiene at the time of writing.<\/p>\n

On August 26, Greggs was awarded a score of 2 (improvement necessary) from food hygiene inspectors.<\/p>\n

Anything under a score of 3 (generally satisfactory) is considered a fail from the Food Standards Agency.<\/p>\n

In a separate incident in March, a father was ‘fuming’<\/a> after he claims he found mould in his food from the airport bakery.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, BirminghamLive spoke to a customer who raised concerns about the hygiene from the bakery.<\/p>\n

In March, Imran Ahmed flew home from Sevilla and visited<\/a> the airport Greggs after his flight.<\/p>\n

Halfway through eating a cheese and onion pasty, Imran claims he discovered mould on his food which led to him receiving a refund and \u00a310 Greggs voucher.<\/p>\n

Speaking to BirminghamLive at the time, Imran said: “I’m not running back to Greggs anytime soon and I won’t visit any until I read they’ve improved food hygiene.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been trying to get my head around how this happened, they say they make fresh food daily.<\/p>\n

“You say that, but the mould tells me a different story. But I do enjoy Greggs, they’re nice and I wouldn’t want them to close down completely.<\/p>\n

“They just need to improve their hygiene and the standards of food that they’re selling.”<\/p>\n

A Greggs spokesperson said at the time: “We take all matters of food hygiene and safety extremely seriously.<\/p>\n

“Our customer care team have been in contact with the customer and we are fully investigating this matter.”<\/p>\n

The Birmingham Airport<\/a> Greggs currently is one of only two UK locations failing food hygiene, the other Greggs is in Basingstoke.<\/p>\n

A Greggs spokesperson said: \u201cWe take all matters of food hygiene extremely seriously and we have strict protocols in place across our estate.<\/p>\n
