(Files)Article content<\/p>\n<p>Over 3,000 full-time jobs were added in the Bruce, Grey, Huron Perth region in September.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement 2<\/p>\n<p>This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.<\/p>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>Those gains were partially offset by losses in part-time employment, totalling 1,400 jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>Recommended Videos<\/p>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>The unemployment rate for the region served by the Four County Labour Market Planning Board fell marginally by 0.1 per cent to 4.8 per cent last month.<\/p>\n<p>The Stratford-Bruce Peninsula region sits at the second-lowest unemployment rate in the province, behind Northwest Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>In September, the region\u2019s overall population aged 15 or more years increased by over 200 people, whereas the labour force size increased by 1,400 people, resulting in the number of people not in the labour force in the region decreasing by 1,200 people.<\/p>\n<p>This increased the region\u2019s participation rate by 0.4 percentage points to 58.6 per cent. The region also experienced an increase of 1,600 people in overall employment.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement 3<\/p>\n<p>This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.<\/p>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was little change to our overall unemployment rate this month, and we are seeing some positive indicators,\u201d said Dana Soucie, executive director for the Four County Labour Market Planning Board. \u201cWith an increase in both full-time employment and participation rates, our region\u2019s labour force is trending in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Employment in the region decreased in the goods-producing sector (-3.0 per cent; -1,800) and increased in the services-producing sector (+4 per cent; +3,300).<\/p>\n<p>The goods-producing sector saw a decrease in overall employment numbers in September (-1,800 people, \u2013 3.0 per cent), with the biggest loss in Utilities (-1,400, -12 per cent), followed by manufacturing (-1,200, -5 per cent) and Agriculture (-200, -0.2 per cent). On the other hand, construction experienced an employment increase (+800, +4 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement 4<\/p>\n<p>This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.<\/p>\n<p>Article content<\/p>\n<p>Overall employment in the services-producing sector saw an increase of four per cent, which is over 3,300 people in September.<\/p>\n<p>Business, building and other support services experienced the largest percentage growth in employment (+700, +22 per cent) followed by educational services (+900, +18 per cent), healthcare and social assistance (+2,600, +14 per cent) and information, culture and recreation (+700, +13 per cent). On the other hand, finance, insurance, real estate, rental and leasing experienced the largest percentage decrease in September (-1,200, -20 per cent) followed by transportation and warehousing (-400, -12 per cent) and other services (except public administration) (-500, -6 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the provincial unemployment rate remained unchanged this month at 8.3 per cent, both unadjusted for seasonality.<\/p>\n<p data-async=\"\">Current job postings for the Bruce, Grey, Huron, and Perth regions have increased over time since the pandemic and can be found at <a data-evt-val=\"{\" control_fields=\"\" link=\"\" data-evt-typ=\"click\" href=\"http:\/\/www.connect2jobs.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.connect2JOBS.ca<\/a>.
