<\/p>\nThe palace has been left \u201csaddened and perplexed\u201d by Prince Harry\u2019s latest claim that the institution is \u201csabotaging\u201d the relationship with his father, the King.<\/p>\n
The Duke of Sussex appeared to accuse courtiers of leaking information about a meeting with his father this month, amid reports that the prince had claimed \u201cmen in grey suits\u201d, were responsible.<\/p>\n
The news has been met with disappointment by friends of the King.<\/p>\n
A royal source said: \u201cThe reality is that senior aides have been working behind the scenes to improve what is a delicate but important private family relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

On September 10 the duke saw the King<\/a> for what was described as \u201ca private tea\u201d at Clarence House. The 50-minute meeting was the first time that the King had met with his younger son for 19 months.<\/p>\n Afterwards, the duke appeared relaxed, telling guests at a charity reception in London that his father was \u201cgreat<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n Prince Harry arriving at Clarence House for the meeting<\/p>\n BEN MONTGOMERY\/GETTY IMAGES<\/p>\n However, a report appeared in The Sun on Saturday that said the meeting had been \u201cdistinctly formal\u201d, with the duke reportedly describing the reunion as \u201cvery official, like an official visit\u201d.<\/p>\n Harry<\/a>\u2019s office denied this and instead accused palace sources of \u201csabotaging\u201d the reconciliation between father and son by suggesting that they had leaked the information to the press.<\/p>\n His spokesman said: \u201cRecent reporting of the duke\u2019s view of the tone of the meeting, is categorically false. The quotes attributed to him are pure invention \u2014 fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2022 Prince Harry says his \u2018conscience is clear\u2019 as he attempts to mend rift<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n The Sun revealed that during the 50-minute meeting gifts were exchanged, including a framed family photograph, which included an image of the couple with their children, Archie, six, and Lilibet, four.<\/p>\n The duke\u2019s spokesman said that \u201cpresumably, those same sources\u201d had revealed the detail of the gift to the press.<\/p>\n They added: \u201cWhile we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over. However, the image did not contain the duke and duchess.\u201d<\/p>\n The duke has made no secret of the fact that he has long believed that \u201cmen in grey suits\u201d at the palace have conspired against him and, previously, against his mother, the late Princess Diana<\/a>.<\/p>\n In his memoir Spare, the duke accused three courtiers whom he named \u201cBee, Wasp and Fly\u201d of acting to force him out of his royal role.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d spent my life dealing with courtiers, scores of them,\u201d he said. \u201cBut now I dealt mostly with just three, all middle-aged white men who\u2019d managed to consolidate power through a series of bold Machiavellian manoeuvres.\u201d<\/p>\n He used the autobiography, and interviews to publicise the book, to criticise members of his family including his stepmother the Queen<\/a> and his brother and sister-in-law, the Prince and Princess of Wales.<\/p>\n![\"Prince](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/\/a98dc245-50ee-49f7-be51-bef229a1e91c.jpg\")
