Bayern Munich <\/a>assistant boss for his tactical nous, adaptability, passion and will to win.<\/p>\nAnd crucially for the Rangers support, he says he\u2019s NOT a clone of sacked Martin. Bannan said: \u201cDanny is the best manager I\u2019ve worked with in my career.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s so confident. When he came to Sheffield Wednesday, it was his first manager\u2019s job. He\u2019d been assistant to Hansi Flick at Bayern and Germany.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen he arrived, I was thinking: \u2018He\u2019s the same age as me\u2019. So I expected him to be quite shy.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut in his first meeting, he was unbelievable. All the boys left the meeting saying he was unreal.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe had so much belief in what he was going to do. He had a plan.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt that time, we were bottom of the league, 12 points from safety. But we stayed up on the last day.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis confidence is through the roof. On that first day, boys could have easily left the meeting thinking: \u2018Who is this guy\u2019. But we all thought he was brilliant.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s built for the British game. A few weeks ago, he was going around clubs in America seeing how they work.<\/p>\n
\u201cThomas Muller took him to Vancouver Whitecaps. He told me it was a lovely set-up but at the game, there was no real passion.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe felt they weren\u2019t really invested in the game, they were all eating burgers and chips.<\/p>\n
\u201cDanny loves passionate fans. That\u2019s why he took to English football – and it\u2019s another level altogether at the Old Firm.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sceptical Rangers fans will fear the potential appointment of Rohl is just a repeat of their Martin pursuit.<\/p>\n
He was fired after an abysmal start to an Ibrox reign, which has left them eighth in the Premiership table.<\/p>\n
But Bannan says the German is a different animal altogether when it comes to playing style.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cTactically, he\u2019s really good. He likes to play but not to the extent of Russell.<\/p>\n
\u201cDanny is more about doing what it takes to win. He likes getting the ball forward and pressing high. He\u2019s not about 100 passes.<\/p>\n
\u201cBasically, he analyses every game and every opponent. He\u2019ll see their weaknesses and that\u2019s how you\u2019ll play.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf they don\u2019t press, you\u2019ll obviously play out from the back.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf they do, he\u2019ll have ways of beating it. It\u2019s not a set in stone way of playing – he adapts to every situation.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s got an old head on young shoulders. As a player, you never really see him change.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I don\u2019t see the pressure in Glasgow getting to him.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s already been at a massive club in Bayern Munich albeit as a number two.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut Bayern is similar to Celtic and Rangers, where a draw isn\u2019t good enough. So he gets that side of it.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s been in that kind of environment, even though he wasn\u2019t the main man. He\u2019s felt it and I\u2019ve spoken to him about that.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe knows Munich is the exact same as Rangers and Celtic, you have to win every game no matter how well you play.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite all of that, Bannan knows Glasgow is a different ball game, which can swallow up managers.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s already spoken to his old gaffer about what he might be walking into.<\/p>\n
But the former Scotland midfielder thinks Rohl will relish it.<\/p>\n
So much so, if he gets the job, Bannan says he\u2019ll immediately believe Rangers can be champions THIS term.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cIt\u2019s hard for me, I\u2019ve never felt that Old Firm pressure. Obviously I grew up with it and I follow it. But you need to actually be in it to really feel it.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s OK me saying he\u2019s an incredible manager who will go on to big things.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut this would be a huge test for him because it\u2019ll be the biggest club he\u2019s managed up to this point.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he could be a massive success at Rangers. He loves things like this. Rangers are right up his street because he loves a challenge.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve never seen a fanbase take to a manager as much as ours did with Danny. And that\u2019s obviously what Rangers need. I think it\u2019s a good match.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe plays the game on the touchline and that\u2019s what Rangers fans want to see. He\u2019ll believe he can still get Rangers challenging for the league this season.<\/p>\n
\u201cDanny will target winning the title.<\/p>\n
\u201cHearts have had a great start but he\u2019d still look to catch them. While Celtic haven\u2019t really hit the ground running.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I\u2019d say it\u2019s still open up there. If Danny comes in he\u2019ll have the same thought process.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019ll think there\u2019s loads of games to claw it back and he\u2019ll love being in Europe as well.<\/p>\n
